Funny enough, a Facebook memory reminded me of this blog that I started at the end of 2013. At the time, I thought my life was completely changing more than I could imagine, but I was looking forward to coming ‘home’.

In retrospect, looking back on these last couple of years, I can now reflect on just how much my life has indeed changed.  2014 brought a change back to Iowa. It also brought me to my current church and church family, as well as a reaffirmation of my faith. I am so grateful for that because it has been only through my faith, a strong connection with the Lord and the help of friends and family that I have been able to get where I am today and to be posting this blog.

The past three years brought health issues, surgeries, the loss of family members, the loss of some friends, and other struggles along the way. However, it also brought a special bond between Tim and I that I will continue to look back on and smile (even if it is through my tears sometimes) as I remember all the great memories, fun and not so much fun times and a love between us that just continued to grow. It brought family members together, it brought special memories, fantastic friendships and a greater closeness with the Lord than I ever thought possible.

This year probably tested my strength, courage and faith more than any other. However, because of some of that, it allowed me to make the career change I had been looking for, spend more time with my husband, kids, grandkids and other family members to be able to continue that close bond and keep those memories alive. It allowed me to learn about trust, discipline, complete and total reliance that everything would be ok if I just continued to breathe, one day at a time, and even on some occasions just moments at a time.

I know 2018 will continue to bring some of the biggest changes and challenges. I look forward to making some more great memories, keeping the love alive within my family and circle of friends and continuing to grow, physically, mentally and spiritually. I am going to try and make it a point to blog more, share more of my thoughts, special moments and even my struggles. I am going to try and travel more, explore and continue to push my self outside my limits and comfort zone. I am going to enjoy and appreciate my family and circle of friends. I am going to get up each day and get through each day, with my faith and trust in the Lord, knowing that it is what Tim would want for me.

So that is my end to 2017....with a hopeful, grateful and blessed heart to a 2018 filled with new special times, gains, struggles, losses and whatever else happens to come my way.
